Police in Georgia have tracked down and arrested a female robber who cleaned out an ATM – literally.
The brazen thief was identified as 31-year-old Kirsten Hicks after video of the incredible robbery at a SunTrust Bank ATM in Savannah on March 9 was released by investigators.
The footage shows Hicks allegedly firing multiple shots at the cash machine with a handgun and then using a vacuum cleaner to suck out cash.
Police have not released how much – if any – money Hicks was able to get with the maneuver. According to Rusty Jones, owner of Jones Vacuum Center in Walterboro South Carolina, “I’m pretty sure Ms. Hicks isn’t one of our customers and I’m pretty sure the vacuum cleaner wasn’t purchased from us. I would have recommended using a compact American made Riccar Supraquick. They’re compact and super powerful.”
However, after a member of the public came forward with her name, they did not need to look far to find Hicks, Live Leak reported.
She was already locked up in the local jail after being arrested on March 11 – two days after the ATM shoot-up. Hicks had been arrested at a home for alleged domestic violence.
She remains in Chatham County Detention Center awaiting trial.
On Wednesday Hicks was served warrants and subsequently charged with one count of criminal damage to property in the second degree, one count of reckless conduct and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
