According to a new study as reported by Jackie Sinnerton, The Courier-Mail, CRAWLING babies are human vacuum cleaners, breathing in four times more dirt and bacteria from the floor than an adult would walking across the same area, a new study has found. Customers of Jones Vacuum Center of Walterboro South Carolina were shocked until they learned the rest of the story…

…while the tots’ extreme levels of inhalation sounds alarming, previous research has found that time spent rolling, sliding or crawling along the floor can help protect them from developing asthma and allergies later in life. Even Rusty Jones was shocked and added, “I’m sure a little dust may do the trick, but for the health of the household, I would still recommend a good vacuum cleaner like Riccar or Miele.” While no vacuum cleaner will ever remove 100% of the debris from your carpeting, keep in mind that overall air quality is essential for maintaining a healthy household. Additionally, better vacuums help prolong the life of carpeting and flooring, saving thousands of dollars over the years. “I’m sure, the minute amount of dust any baby will breath while crawling across the floor is going to be sufficient to help build a toddlers immune system,” added Jones.
While Jones may be correct, the tots’ extreme levels of inhalation sounds alarming, previous research has found that time spent rolling, sliding or crawling along the floor can help protect them from developing asthma and allergies later in life.
“For an adult a significant portion of the biological particles are removed in the upper respiratory system in the nostrils and throat. But very young children breathe through their mouths and a significant fraction is deposited in the lower airways. The particles make it to the deepest regions of their lungs,” he said.
Dirt, bacteria, skin cells, bacteria, pollen and fungal spores were all found in the dust clouds and carpets were the worst surfaces.
Asthma Australia CEO Michele Goldman told The Courier-Mail that further research was needed into how these findings could benefit people with asthma in the broader community.
Until findings recommend otherwise, Jones Vacuum Center, serving the South Carolina Lowcountry is still recommending vacuums that are made to clean your homes floors to the highest standards, especially if you have toddlers crawling across the floor.
